When Patrick Oliver, National recognized Literacy Consultant, writer and author who partners with us to do the reading component of our chess program came to our club on Tuesday, January 14, to talk to our children and invited guests about making the right moves in 2020 in reference to reading, writing and eating healthy, he brought with him the amazing and talented, Helaine Palmer Williams, journalist and columnists for the Arkansas Democrat Gazette as his moderator.
Mrs Williams whom Patrick had given some background information on our club got the opportunity to see our kids in action as prior to the program starting some of our children had arrived early and was playing in an simultaneous exhibition against Tony Davis, 9x Arkansas State Chess Champion.
Mrs. William, unknowingly to me, immediately went to her editors and presented an ideal of a story on our program and as she said, they loved the ideal.
And the rest is history. Our story came out in Sunday’s newspaper and the story is awesome.
Thank you Mrs William, you definitely was able through your writing breathe life into our CPR Chess program on paper. The article was way more than I expected or could ever dreamed of. Thank you for giving voice to our club, children, parents and volunteers. You are not only an awesome and talented writer, you are an amazing person.
To God be the Glory!!!!!
As the song below indicates: I am so grateful. You are God-sent and you, too, have been inducted into our chess village.
On behalf of Mosaic Church, our leaders and our club at Mosaic Church and in Pine Bluff, we take this opportunity to thank both you and Patrick.
